LONDON (Thomson Financial) - Providence Resources Plc. said it and joint
venture partner Northern Petroleum Plc. have been offered Block SU91 under the
UK's 13th Landward Licensing Round.
Providence and Northern, which are 50-50 partners, have identified a number
of exploration and development opportunities within the block, principally the
Baxter's Copse oil discovery and the Burton Down exploration prospect.
Providence, which holds a 99.125 percent interest in the nearby Singleton
oil field, said it will be the site operator.
In a separate statement, EnCore Oil Plc. said it has been offered the
PEDL240 licence in the same round.
EnCore said it will have a 7.5 percent stake in the licence, for which
Northern is the operator.
