NEW YORK, August 04, 2015 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Consumer-electronics company Prong made global headlines with its iPhone cases that feature built-in A/C adapters for convenient charging. Following the success of gadgets like the PWR Case, which comes with a detachable battery pack, Prong has announced plans to develop an Apple Watch charger and a similar device for the Pebble Watch.

Prong keeps iPhone owners up to date on the latest electronic accessories. Recently, tech headlines have been abuzz about the release of the Polar Loop 2, an activity tracker that synchronizes with third-party applications, such as Apple Health, MyFitnessPal and Google Fit.

According to Prong, the original Loop was met with lukewarm reviews. However, the device was still popular within the smart-fitness industry and was a standout competitor with the Fitbit and Jawbone UP.

However, that was at least two years ago, and competition has grown fiercer. The Loop's most appealing characteristic was its simplicity, which continues into its latest version, the Loop 2.

You will not find any distinguishing marks on the Loop 2, besides the company's embossed logo and the LEDs that make up the dot-matrix display. The logo runs along the edge, and two metal contacts monitor heart rate – that is all. Nonetheless, the Loop 2 offers several improvements over its predecessor.

The Loop 2's outer band is composed of polyurethane material and soft silicon for comfort, but the band still contains the steel buckle from the original Loop. The device has a vibrating engine to alert users of lengthy inactivity, phone notifications and alarms. It also contains an array of sensors to track activity. The Loop 2 measures distance, calories, steps taken and sleep.

In a much-welcomed change, the Loop 2 is not housing fitness data in its own software, unlike other fitness trackers and the original Loop. The band will synchronize with third-party applications, which makes user data more secure and accessible.

The Polar Loop 2 launched this month in two new colors, white and pink, and its silicon material makes it very comfortable to wear. The black PU band will be available in September. Fitness enthusiasts can expect to pay $120 for the Loop 2, which is $10 more than the previous version.
