NEW YORK (Thomson Financial) - Primedia Inc. late Tuesday reported a
third-quarter operating loss of $700,000, and a loss from continuing operations
of 86 cents a share.
Primedia's net income rose to $395.2 million, or $8.95 a share, from $51.8
million, or $1.18 a share, a year earlier, including a gain on the sale of
Enthusiast Media.
Revenue rose 2.5% to $83.3 million, on growth in its Apartment Guide,
Rentals.com, and New Home Guide, partially offset by a decline in Auto Guide.
In the same period a year earlier, the company had operating income of $8.8
million on sales of $81.3 million.
The stock closed Tuesday at $8.53, up 7%.
