LONDON--Porvair PLC (PRV.LN), a filtration and environmental
technology group, Thursday announced the acquisition of Thomas Cain
Inc. for undisclosed sum, and said that it has signed a technology
licensing agreement with Thermo Electron Manufacturing Ltd.
MAIN FACTS:
-Acquisition will add a complementary range of block digestion
instruments and consumables to Seal's water quality analysis
products.
-Business will be integrated into Seal Analytical's operation in
Wisconsin, U.S..
-Thomas Cain is a manufacturer of environmental laboratory
equipment and consumables.
-Under the technology agreement, Porvair and Thermo will
commercialise an exclusive range of life science sample preparation
filters.
-Porvair has licensed its filter technology and will manufacture
the products; Thermo will undertake sales and marketing of the
filters worldwide.
-Thermo Electron Manufacturing Ltd, is a division of Thermo
Fisher Scientific (TMO).
-Shares of Porvair on Wednesday closed at 245 pence, valuing the
company at GBP107 million.
