Plumgood Food today announced that it has entered into an agreement to
acquire Purity Dairies’ home delivery
business, continuing a tradition that began 82 years ago with Purity
founder Miles Ezell. Plumgood will begin service to Purity’s
2,000 home delivery customers in Middle Tennessee on Tuesday, April 1.
The agreement between Plumgood and Purity was crafted to ensure
continued service to the 2,000 home delivery customers Purity now
services across Middle Tennessee. Nationwide, dairies have gradually
stopped delivering milk to individual homes because of the relative
economic inefficiencies associated with this method of distribution.
Recognizing these inefficiencies, Purity turned to Plumgood Food,
Nashville’s only online grocery store which
delivers groceries to thousands of homes throughout Middle Tennessee.
The agreement allows Purity home delivery customers to continue
receiving milk on their doorsteps, along with any other grocery items
they need.
“This agreement is a natural fit for our two
companies and a wonderful benefit to our customers,”
said Eric Satz, president of Plumgood Food. “Nashvillians
have long treasured the option of having Purity milk delivered to their
doorstep. It’s a local tradition that Plumgood
Food is honored and excited to carry on. Purity customers can now have
their Purity milk – and their produce, chicken
and paper towels delivered too.”
Customers of both local companies will benefit from the fusion of Purity’s
relentless dedication to quality and Plumgood Food’s
commitment to making life easier for Middle Tennesseans. While Purity
Dairies’ customers will enjoy having more
items delivered, Plumgood Food customers will, for the first time, have
the option to purchase Purity Dairies’
award-winning milk online.
“Home delivery has long been a symbol of
Purity Dairies’ commitment to this community.
It is a tradition that started with my grandfather and has meant a lot
to this company,” said Mark Ezell, president
of Purity Dairies. “How grateful we are to be
working with Plumgood Food to ensure that home delivery of Purity milk
continues. We know our customers will be delighted with all Plumgood has
to offer. Purity home delivery is in great hands.”
