In Year One, Pitney Bowes India CSR Programs
Reached 20,000 Lives
Pitney Bowes Inc. (NYSE:PBI), a global technology company
providing products and solutions to power commerce, continues its
longstanding tradition of corporate social responsibility (CSR)
with programs that highlight diversity and innovation in India.
This year, more than 60 Pitney Bowes employees participated in five
programs which made a difference in 20,000 lives throughout
India.

CSR and diversity and inclusion programs have led to global
recognition for Pitney Bowes including being named to the 2016
Great Places to Work in India list, the 2016 World Human Resource
Development (HRD) Congress ‘Dream Companies to Work For’, and the
Forbes America’s Best Employers list. Globally, 42% of Pitney Bowes
leaders are women and in India alone, 20% of the company’s leaders
are women.
The five Pitney Bowes CSR programs in India are:
- The Pitney Bowes Employee Volunteers
Program - JORAD (Just One Rupee A Day) – This is an ongoing
collection drive by and for employees who donate a rupee every day
for contributing food and items to orphanages and homes for the
elderly.
- Project Dhaarna – A program aimed at
identifying specific development paths for women while
simultaneously engaging men in gender conversations. A related
initiative called ‘Mayeri’ provides working mothers with benefits
including time off and developmental opportunities.
- The Pitney Bowes Startup Accelerator
Program – Now in its third year, this program focuses on women
entrepreneurs. Upon graduation, 50 percent of participating
startups successfully raise their own funding.
- Pitney Bowes Code Inspire – This
national software coding challenge attracted participation from
more than 3,000 women engineering graduates from 180 universities.
Upon its conclusion, five women were offered positions at Pitney
Bowes.
- Etasha India - ETASHA provides
market-oriented employability and vocational skills to
disadvantaged Indian youth (aged 14-30 years). Pitney Bowes funds
two Etasha projects 1. Employability Skills Training and Placement
for Students of Industrial Training Institutes and 2. Pilot Project
for Career Guidance for Government School Girl Students in
Assam.
