NEW YORK (AP) - Drug maker Pfizer Inc. said Thursday it received antitrust
approval for its bid to buy Encysive Pharmaceuticals Inc. for about $195
million.
The company's offer to buy outstanding Encysive shares for $2.35 apiece
expires at the end of March 31. The deal was announced last month.
Pfizer wants to buy the biopharmaceutical company to strengthen its product
portfolio for treating high blood pressure.
