OSLO (Thomson Financial) - Petroleum Geo-Services ASA said it has been
awarded what it claims to be the largest-ever high density 4D marine seismic
survey campaign by Brazil energy company Petroleo Brasileiro SA, in a deal worth
$251 million.
Under the terms of the deal PGS said it will undertake five separate surveys
offshore Brazil, covering almost 5,000 square kilometres, as well as an
"alternative program" of up to 120 days.
"The Campos, Santos and Espirito Santo Basin surveys are scheduled to begin
in October 2008," the Norwegian firm said.
PGS will use its recently-christened high definition seismic vessel Ramform
Sovereign, it said.
