 Pearson India will buy a stake in India-based educational-content and software maker Educomp Solutions Ltd. (532696.BY), a senior executive at the local unit of U.K.'s Pearson PLC (PSON.LN) said Wednesday.
Pearson India Deputy Chairman Khozem Merchant, while speaking to Dow Jones Newswires, declined to provide details on the stake purchase.
Educomp Chief Financial Officer Sangeeta Gulati also confirmed the deal but didn't give any details.
Pearson is scheduled to hold a press conference at 0615 GMT in New Delhi Wednesday.
Pearson PLC owns various businesses including the Financial Times Group, Pearson Education and the Penguin Group.
