As PECO readies, customers should prepare as
well
PECO is closely monitoring the track of Tropical Storm Hermine,
which could potentially impact the region this weekend. Current
forecasts are indicating potentially heavy rain and high winds for
the area beginning Sunday through Monday, with the greatest impact
along coastal areas. PECO has developed enhanced staffing plans to
respond to any potential issues caused by the storm. In addition to
PECO’s 2,400 employees, the company has secured additional support
from local contractors, and has placed crews and personnel on
standby.
PECO reminds customers to stay safe during severe weather and
prepare for possible storm damage. Customers should visit
peco.com/alerts to choose how to receive messages from PECO
regarding an outage or severe weather – via text, email or phone.
Customers also should:
- Have a flashlight with fresh batteries
on each floor of your home, charge cell phones and other mobile
devices, and have a supply of bottled water and easy-to-prepare,
non-perishable food.
- Report electric outages immediately at
peco.com, by texting “ADDOUTAGE” to MYPECO (697326), or by calling
1-800-841-4141. Customers also are reminded to report any natural
gas issues by calling 1-800-841-4141.
- Stay away from downed wires, damaged
electric equipment, and tree limbs and branches contacting
electrical equipment. Always assume PECO’s equipment is energized,
even if there is an outage in your neighborhood. Report these
dangerous conditions to PECO immediately at 1-800-841-4141.
