The Southeastern Electric Exchange (SEE) has named PECO as the
organization’s safest member company. PECO was recognized with the
2015 Total Company Safety Award at the SEE Annual Conference and
Trade Show held in Hershey, Pa. in June.
The Total Company Safety Award recognizes the participating
member company that achieves the best (lowest) Occupational Safety
and Health Administration (OSHA) recordable incidence rate for the
year. Last year, PECO’s overall OSHA recordable rate of .54 marked
the best safety performance in the company’s history, surpassing
the company’s previous record set in 2013. It also was the third
year in a row that PECO achieved its best-ever safety performance.
PECO remains one of the safest utilities in the industry and the
company’s OSHA recordable rate matches the Edison Electric
Institute’s best-in-class measurement for electric utilities
nationwide.
“This award is a testament to our company’s enduring commitment
to safety and exemplifies the hard work and dedication of our
employees to keep safety at the forefront of everything we do,”
said Mike Innocenzo, PECO senior vice president and chief operating
officer. “We will remain focused on continuing this positive trend
moving forward and will work with other utilities to make the
industry safer.”
In addition to his role at PECO, Innocenzo also serves on the
board of the Southeastern Electric Exchange.
The Southeastern Electric Exchange is a non-profit,
non-political trade association of investor-owned electric utility
companies. Founded in 1933, the organization seeks to enhance the
operational performance of its member companies and provides mutual
aid coordination to support storm restoration activities.
In addition to the SEE Total Company Safety Award, PECO was
recently recognized by the Energy Association of Pennsylvania with
three job safety awards for experiencing low safety incidence rates
in 2014 and a reduction in motor vehicle accidents compared to the
prior year.
PECO sister utility BGE in Baltimore also was recognized by SEE
with a 2015 Industry Excellence Award. BGE won the award for the
company’s Business Intelligence and Data Analytics Initiative to
identify opportunities to further improve the efficiency of the
company’s natural gas and electric systems operations.
