MUMBAI (Thomson Financial) - Standard & Poor's said the 'BBB+/A-2' ratings
on Origin Energy Ltd. the 'BBB/A-2' rating of its 51 percent-owned subsidiary
Contact Energy Ltd. were not immediately affected by BG Group's proposal to
acquire Origin.
If Origin were to actively consider the offer and/or recommend to
shareholders that they accept the BG offer, the ratings on Origin and Contact
would be reviewed as further information is sought on which BG entity is making
the offer, S&P said.
Origin is an Australia-based vertically integrated energy retail and E&P
(exploration and production) group, while BG is a global integrated gas company.
