PARIS (Thomson Financial) - France Telecom's Orange unit does not intend to
compete head-to-head with TV channels, head of content Xavier Couture said in an
interview with Le Journal du Dimanche.
Orange will offer pay-per-view TV from Thursday to French households,
through satellite reception.
"We are not producing television, we therefore don't intend to enter into
direct competition with TV channels," Couture told the paper.
"We are a telecoms operator that has decided to add content to its networks,
with TV among others," Couture added.
"Our competitors are Google, MSN, community platforms, Apple, Telefonica.
Not (Vivendi's) Canal+, for which we are the main distributor," he added.
