NEW YORK (AP) - Shares of Casey's General Stores Inc. may see heightened
movement on Thursday, after it posted a 61 percent higher fiscal second-quarter
profit.
After Wednesday's closing bell, the Iowa-based convenience store operator
said strong sales of groceries and prepared foods lifted results during the
quarter.
Meanwhile, ConAgra Foods Inc. saw its shares rise in Wednesday's aftermarket
session on its outlook for the fiscal second quarter.
The Omaha, Neb., packaged foods company said its fiscal second-quarter
profit from continuing operations will come in higher than expected because of
strong results at its trading and merchandising segment.
Communication equipment maker Comtech Telecommunications Corp. also may see
shares trade hands more than usual, following its fiscal first-quarter report,
where profit jumped 36 percent.
Melville, N.Y.-based Comtech said sales rose at its mobile data
communications and RF microwave amplifiers segments, but fell at its
telecommunications transmission division.
Investors may also watch shares of Zumiez Inc., following the company's
same-store sales report. Zumiez, an Everett, Wash.-based sports-focused clothing
retailer, said same-store sales rose during the month, but missed Wall Street's
expectations for a bigger gain.
Same-store sales, or sales at stores open at least a year, is a key
indicator of retailer performance since it measures growth at existing stores
rather than newly opened ones.
