Ease of Use, Accuracy and Detail Cited as Reasons for Use of Maps in Local Fire Trucks
OMAHA, Neb., July 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- When members of the Omaha Fire Department (OFD) needed an easy way to navigate the best routes around the city, they turned to a new source -- the Dex(R) Yellow Pages.
The total land area for Omaha is 193 miles -- a lot of territory for the OFD to cover, especially with their average response time of under four minutes. In order to make it easier to find the most direct route to a specific location, the OFD asked Dex to supply them with copies of maps -- including city and street maps -- from the 2008 Omaha Dex Yellow Pages.

Now the firefighters refer to the maps while responding to a call.
