Vicon Launches New Products
- Vicon transforms motion capture with intelligent new camera
platform -
- Easy to use camera range opens up motion capture to a wider audience -
OMG plc (LSE: OMG), the technology group providing Computer
Vision products and services for the entertainment, life science,
engineering industries and consumer electronics markets, announces
that Vicon, its motion capture technology division, has launched a
new camera range, Vicon Vantage, and a new iPad control
application.
Drawing on over 30 years' of motion capture ("mocap")
experience, Vantage is an intelligent new flagship camera platform
which combines industry-leading technology with accessible design
to open up mocap to a broader audience.
Advances in camera technology have led to a burgeoning demand
for mocap across an ever wider range of applications; for instance,
tracking robots and drones, assisting in sportswear design and
immersive shopping experiences. To meet the needs of the
diversifying audience, Vantage combines advanced, powerful features
with added intelligence, making it easy to use and accessible for
this new generation of mocap applications.
Intelligence in motion capture
The new series, available in 5, 8 and 16 megapixel models,
continuously monitors performance with an array of sensors and
provides the user with visual feedback through both the camera, the
software and via Vicon's new tablet app, Vicon Control. The Control
app, which is currently available from Apple's App Store, allows
users to make adjustments on the move and in real-time. Users can
remotely change camera settings, calibrate the system, and start
and stop capture - it turns what was traditionally a multiple crew
setup into a one person job.
The Vantage range not only continues Vicon's long-held,
industry-leading 16 megapixel resolution, but also includes
completely re-engineered processing algorithms and tracking
capabilities that fundamentally improve performance over previous
generations. This powerful combination of features captures a much
higher quality of data, providing key benefits to the
entertainment, engineering and medical sciences industries.
Commenting on the launch, Nick Bolton, OMG Chief Executive
Officer said:
"I am very pleased to see the launch of Vantage which
demonstrates Vicon's continuous advancements in innovation and
paves the way for the future of mocap. Vicon continues to push
boundaries and this new, easy to use Vantage range has been
designed to provide more information and a much wider array of
capabilities to its users than ever before. This intuitive system
enables a new generation of customers to fully harness the power
and abilities of the camera range alongside our renowned
software."
