LONDON -(Dow Jones)- The U.K. Office of Communications Monday published a statement on the prices that BT Group (BT)'s Openreach can charge communications providers to enable them to rent access to telephone lines on a wholesale basis.
MAIN FACTS:
-Follows Ofcom's statement on charge controls for local loop unbundling for telephone and broadband services published in May.
-Current controls on residential and business wholesale line rental will be replaced by a single control, for core wholesale line rental service.
-Core wholesale line rental service will be available to all customers, residential and business, and will include a standard level of service and directory listings for residential and business numbers.
-Implementation of the core wholesale line rental service will be phased in order to allow Openreach appropriate time to ensure necessary changes to its systems to fulfil requirements of core service.
-Control will apply for period to March 2011.
-Price controls for new wholesale line rental core rental service will be kept at GBP100.68 per annum
-Wholesale line rental transfer charge will increase to GBP3.00 from GBP2.00 currently
-Wholesale line rental new connection will be reduced to GBP67.00, from GBP88.00 currently
