COPENHAGEN (Thomson Financial) - Novo Nordisk AS's partly-owned Zymogenetics
Inc announced successful phase I interim study results for its cancer treatment
IL-21.
According to the study results, IL-21 may improve the ability of approved
therapies such as the antibody Rituximab to target and kill cancer cells.
The study is part of a larger clinical programme examining IL-21 as a single
agent as well as in combination with approved cancer therapeutics.
Zymogenetics announced in October that IL-21 in combination with Nexavar
showed "promising anti-tumour activity".
Novo Nordisk owns approximately 31 pct of Zymogenetics.
