LONDON (Thomson Financial) - North Midland Construction Plc. posted a lower
first-quarter pretax profit, but said there are no loss-making contracts of the
scale seen last year to dramatically impact the year end result.
The company said it has started its financial year satisfactorily and
recorded a pretax profit of 969,000 pounds on revenues of 54.5 million pounds
against a profit of 1.11 million pounds on sales of 52.7 million pounds
respectively for the comparable first quarter of last year.
The group's workload for 2008 stands at 103 million pounds and 41 million
pounds for 2009 and its tender opportunities remain at a reasonable level.
"This, coupled with the financial results from the first quarter's trading,
gives your board confidence that a result in excess of last year will be
achieved," North Midland said.
