Chinese demand increases for medical training technology
Premier Bionics' wholly owned subsidiary, Medic Vision Pty Ltd ("Medic Vision")
today announced another significant breakthrough in China for its world-leading
medical training technology.
The Australian company said it had sold four of its cannulation simulators -
used for teaching intravenous techniques to nurses, doctors and paramedics - to
the Southwest Hospital in Chongqing, China, for approximately A$150,000.
Medic Vision Chief Executive Officer, Mr Ross Horley, commented, "this is a
further, significant step forward in our penetration into China for the
provision of simulation for medical skills training."
"The Southwest Hospital is the largest hospital in the municipality, treating
approximately one million outpatients per year," he said.
The Chongqing sales success is the Melbourne-based Company's third major
overseas sales contract in as many months, and follows:
O the purchase of the cannulation simulator by Hong Kong's Professional
Medical Centre, a leading education agency that trains all tiers of health
professionals throughout the country,
O an agreement with global medical training products group, the US-based
Immersion Medical, to supply maintenance and support services, and
O a contract to design innovative training technology for the new
state-of-the-art medical and surgical skills training facility for the Royal
College of Surgeons of England, in London.
Intravenous cannulation is the process of placing a needle into a vein for the
injection of fluid and medications.
Medic Vision's simulator enables nurses, doctors and other medical professionals
to practice the delicate procedure by projecting an image of the needle and a '
patient's vein' onto a screen in virtual reality.
Earlier this year Medic Vision announced an A$850,000 contract to provide
computer-based surgical simulation and consulting services to the same hospital.
