MILAN, April 18, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --
Museon has created an exhibition about the Dutch agri-food
industry for World Expo 2015 in Milan. Titled Dutch Innovation Zone,
the exhibition sheds light on the reputation of the Netherlands in areas of scientific
research, revolutionary innovation, and international
collaboration. Potato seed and food printers are only two examples
of Dutch innovations that could contribute to the search for
sustainable solutions to global food issues. By 2050, the
population of our planet is estimated to reach nine billion people.
It will be impossible to produce enough food to feed everybody. A
number of groundbreaking Dutch innovations can contribute to
solutions for this problem.

Dutch Innovation Zone
The exhibition at Museon in The
Hague is in line with the theme for World Expo 2015:
Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life. One of the
biggest issues we face is how to provide food and water for the
global population in the near future. Dutch Innovation Zone
shows how committed the
Netherlands is to this matter. In three related segments -
Share, Live and Grow - the exhibition uses interactive and
educational concepts to illustrate positions held by the Netherlands.
Share
The Netherlands is the second
largest exporter of agricultural products in the world. Dutch
production of agri-food is five times higher than the European
average. These and other statistics are displayed on the walls of
the exhibition hall in the form of compelling infographics.
A spectacular projection table in the Share segment
illustrates how Dutch agri-food products travel around the world.
The prominent role of the
Netherlands in the global food chain is illustrated by data
visualization of a world map and products.
Partnerships
European collaboration within the ECSITE network have
facilitated the coordination of this project at Museo Nazionale
della Scienza e della Tecnologia Leonardo da Vinci. Topics under
discussion at the Dutch Innovation Zone are closely related to the
challenges and solutions presented by Museon in "Your Planet", a
new permanent exhibition which will be unveiled in 2017.
Museon, Museum for Culture and
