BRUSSELS -- Microsoft Corp. said Friday that it had agreed to withdraw its regulatory complaints against Alphabet Inc.'s Google subsidiary.

The software maker said the move to bury the hatchet with a long-standing adversary reflected "our changing legal priorities."

Microsoft said in a statement that the companies would "continue to focus on competing vigorously for business and for customers."

Microsoft has complained about Google to regulators in the U.S. and European Union. To the European Commission, Microsoft has complained about Google's practices related to advertising and the YouTube app.

According to a person familiar with the matter, the two companies have agreed to talk to each other first in the future before taking any problems to regulators.
