Metrix Networks to Provide Hanover Compressor With Performance
Monitoring Services
GRAPEVINE, Texas, June 14 /PRNewswire/ --
Metrix Networks, Inc., today
announced the signing of a major service agreement with Hanover Compressor Co.
(NYSE:HC) of Houston, Texas, the world leader in gas compression service, to
provide electronic hardware, data communications management and data gathering
and hosting for an initial deployment of 900 compressor packages. With the
Metrix service, Hanover's operating organization will advance from basic status
monitoring (off/on) to true performance monitoring of its equipment in the
field.
The agreement comes after several months of field-testing and an extensive
pilot program.
Using satellite communications, the Metrix data center will connect in near
real-time with the compressor units and download operating information. Hanover
personnel will be able to access this information from any Internet- connected
computer. In addition, Metrix's data center will provide electronic
notification to Hanover field personnel whenever compressor operating
parameters exceed acceptable levels.
Contract terms include provisions making Metrix Networks the primary and
preferred provider of all field-monitoring services for Hanover Compression.
Value of the contract over its primary term exceeds $4.5 million.
Chad Deaton, CEO of Hanover, is enthusiastic over the benefits that these
remote monitoring services will provide the company.
"Hanover management is determined to utilize new and proven technologies to
provide better service to our customers while improving the profitability to
our shareholders," Deaton said. "The Metrix system is expected to do both; by
increasing equipment uptime through proactive operating techniques and by
reducing operating expenses though more efficient use of labor and reduced
equipment failure."
"Hanover has looked at and tested other monitoring services and even considered
developing our own internal system," said Mickey McDonald, VP of domestic
operations for Hanover. "The depth of information relative to the performance
of our equipment that Metrix provides and our desire to focus on our core
expertise in operating equipment made the decision timely and appropriate, once
the system's reliability was proven."
Metrix's services will be a valuable tool in Hanover's operations, said Metrix
CEO Dan McCormick. "As with any new technology there will be a learning curve
to maximize the effectiveness of this tool within Hanover's organization, but
the value to Hanover is being recognized within weeks of system installation in
some cases," McCormick said.
