Metlife (NYSE:MET) Historical Stock Chart
: From May 2007 to May 2012

Metlife today announced the creation of a special Web site for Federal
employees and annuitants to obtain more information about MetLife’s
dental benefits options available to them under the Federal Employees
Dental and Vision Insurance Program (FEDVIP). The Web site is http://federaldental.metlife.com.
The Web site discusses the features and flexibility of the MetLife
Federal Dental Plan’s high and standard dental
benefits options available to eligible Federal employees and annuitants
during the open enrollment period for FEDVIP that runs from November 13
to December 11, 2006. By inputting the zip code of their primary
residence, Federal employees and annuitants can also compare the premium
rates for the two MetLife options.
In addition to describing the options’ covered
services and reimbursements, the Web site makes it easy for Federal
employees to see which dentists are part of MetLife’s
Preferred Dentist Program (PDP) – a nationwide
network of over 90,000 dentist locations consisting of carefully
credentialed general and specialty dentists. While MetLife Federal
Dental Plan participants have the freedom to utilize any dentist and
receive benefits for covered services, using an in-network dentist can
provide noteworthy savings because in-network dentists have agreed to
accept MetLife’s negotiated fees –
which are generally 10% to 35% less than the average local charges in a
community. In-network (PDP) dentists even agree to extend these
negotiated fees for services not covered under the plan such as cosmetic
dentistry, dental implants, adult orthodontia or services rendered after
benefit maximums are exceeded. By inputting a zip code or address, users
can find in-network dentists within proximity to convenient locations,
by specialty, by name and/or by language preference.
Beginning November 13, http://federaldental.metlife.com
will also link to the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Web site
to allow eligible Federal employees to seamlessly and easily enroll for
their dental benefits online.
For Federal employees and annuitants wishing to have their questions
addressed by phone, MetLife has established a toll-free number at
1-888-865-6854. The TDD phone number is 1-888-260-5376.
MetLife administers dental benefits for nearly 21 million people, more
than any other commercial carrier. MetLife has been working with Federal
employees and their families for over fifty years –
first with the Federal Employees’ Group Life
Insurance program and then with the Federal Long Term Care Insurance
Program and the Federal Thrift Savings Plan.
