NEW YORK (AP) - Merrill Lynch & Co. said Monday it named Peter S. Kraus
executive vice president in charge of the investment bank's business strategy
and investments.
Kraus, 55, comes to Merrill from Goldman Sachs Group Inc., where he worked
for 22 years. He was co-head of investment management, head of firm-wide
strategy and chairman of the strategy committee and served as co-head of the
financial institutions group until 2001.
Kraus will report to John Thain, who left the New York Stock Exchange to
become the company's chief executive last year as part of a management shake-up.
"Peter Kraus will be a tremendous resource to me and the senior management
team in identifying the best opportunities for growth and investment around the
world," Thain said in a statement.
