Pan Am flame will visit Ken Cox Community Centre, daytime celebration at Montgomery's Inn and evening celebration at Albion Arena

TORONTO, July 4, 2015 /CNW/ - On Tuesday, July 7, Day 38 of the Pan Am Games Torch Relay, presented by President's Choice® and OLG, the Pan Am flame will visit several Toronto neighbourhoods.

The relay day will begin with a visit to the Ken Cox Community Centre before travelling to Montgomery's Inn for a community celebration. Following the celebration, torchbearers will carry the flame through the streets of Toronto. The relay will continue en route to the Albion Arena for an evening celebration where Mustafa Ahmed, renowned spoken word artist, will light the community cauldron.

Tuesday, July 7, 2015 (Relay Day 38: Toronto, ON)

Ken Cox Community Centre11 a.m. (ET) (28 Colonel Samuel Smith Park Drive, Toronto, ON)
Start of day celebration:

  • Aras Janeliunas will be the first torchbearer of the day and will depart this location at 11:30 a.m. carrying the Pan Am flame.

Montgomery's Inn – (4709 Dundas Street West, Toronto, ON)
Day celebration:

  • Dylan Moscovitch, Olympic silver medallist, figure skating (pairs), will carry the Pan Am flame at 1:10 p.m. as part of this relay segment.
  • Terry Jeremie will arrive to Montgomery's Inn at 2:25 p.m. carrying the Pan Am flame and will light the community cauldron.

Albion Arena – (1501 Albion Road, Toronto, ON)
Evening celebration:

  • Scott Russell, CBC sports journalist and host, to carry the flame at 6:50 p.m. as part of this relay segment.
  • Perdita Felicien, two-time Olympian and Pan Am multi-medallist in 100-metre hurdles, will pass the flame to Mustafa Ahmed, renowned spoken word artist, who will light the community cauldron at 7 p.m.

The Pan Am Games Torch Relay is a 41-day journey that will share the Pan Am spirit in more than 130 communities. The torch relay is one of the most exciting events as it sets the stage leading up to the Games.  There will be more than 3,000 torchbearers and 180 community celebrations taking place.
