NEW YORK (Thomson Financial) - Medarex Inc. Wednesday reported positive
safety data in the Phase I trials of MDX-1100, which treats inflammatory
diseases.
The company said the trial was designed to evaluate the safety and efficacy
of escalating doses of the drug on patients with ulcerative colitis. No serious
side effects were reported.
Medarex said a Phase II program for the drug was recently initiated.
Shares of the pharmaceutical company closed Tuesday at $8.12. The stock is
down 50% over the past 52 weeks.
