First SIEM Product to Make Department of
Defense’s Approved Products List
McAfee, part of Intel Security Group and a leading provider of
comprehensive security solutions to the U.S. federal government,
today announced that McAfee’s Security Information and Event
Management (SIEM) solution, including McAfee Enterprise Security
Manager and supporting products, has been named to the U.S.
Department of Defense (DoD) Unified Capabilities Approved Products
List (UC APL). McAfee’s is the first and only SIEM to be added to
the UC APL, which also includes additional McAfee products.
UC APL is the list of approved vendors and products that have
met the stringent criteria the DoD sets for its service and
solution providers. The McAfee Enterprise Security Manager solution
gives federal agencies the ability to detect, analyze, prioritize
and mitigate hidden threats in real time using actionable security
intelligence and a high performance SIEM. To make this list, the
products were subjected to an extensive series of tests against
criteria known as the Security Technical Implementation Guide,
whereby the U.S. Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Joint
Interoperability Test Command (JITC) thoroughly evaluated, tested
and certified the McAfee SIEM solution for the new unified DoD
certification.
McAfee Enterprise Security Manager provides continuous
monitoring and visibility into systems, networks, databases and
applications throughout an IT infrastructure. With this
certification, it is now interoperable with other components of the
DoD’s network infrastructure, meaning agencies who need SIEM can
purchase and implement it today.
“The increasing complexity and volume of security data requires
a tool that can analyze and respond to potential threats in real
time,” said Scott Montgomery, vice president and chief technology
officer for McAfee’s Public Sector. “With McAfee Enterprise
Security Manager, security administrators will be able to quickly
detect, understand, prioritize and respond to threats efficiently
and effectively. This accreditation is a major validation of our
commitment to provide world-class products that have passed a
rigorous DoD certification program.”
The McAfee SIEM is increasingly vital to the cybersecurity
postures of other government agencies as well. SIEM capabilities
are central to the Continuous Diagnostic and Mitigation (CDM)
program to revamp civilian government agencies' security approach,
as CDM emphasizes management visibility and control for network
operators. Civilian agencies choosing McAfee Enterprise Security
Manager will have the assurance that the tool has met the rigorous
requirements of DISA and the JITC.
