Max & Erma's Charity Donations Reach All-Time High in 2007

COLUMBUS, Ohio, Dec. 11 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Charitable donations from Max & Erma's (NASDAQ:MAXE) "FUNdraisers" in fiscal 2007 totaled $534,869 and represented a record year for giving, according to President and CEO Rob Lindeman.

The figure was a five-percent increase -- $25,799 -- over fiscal 2006.

"Our philosophy has always been to support the communities and neighborhoods where we do business, and this program enables us to generate dollars for worthy groups in our many back yards," Lindeman said. "These are the same people who dine in our restaurants and it's important to be an active partner in those communities."

The FUNdraisers benefit schools, churches and other non-profit organizations. During an event, Max & Erma's donates 20 percent of sales generated by the group's supporters to the organization.

More than a thousand non-profit organizations participated in the FUNdraisers at corporate-owned restaurants between Nov. 1, 2006, and Oct. 31. The three largest single-day FUNdraiser beneficiaries were:

-- Friedreich's Ataxis Research Alliance earned $1,264 on May 10 at the Parkway West restaurant in Pittsburgh.

-- The Children's Organ Transplant Organization earned $918 on May 3 at the Beaumont restaurant in Lexington, Ky.

-- The Propionic Acidemia Foundation earned $869 on Feb. 5 at the Gahanna, Ohio, location.
