Executive Heads the Bank Loan, Mezzanine and Private Equity and Distressed Debt Teams in Investment Law Group
CHARLOTTE, N.C., March 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company (MassMutual) today announced the promotion of Sheldon Francis to vice president and assistant general counsel in the Law Division's Investment Law Group. He is based in the Charlotte, N.C. office of Babson Capital Management LLC, a MassMutual subsidiary.
Since joining MassMutual in August of 2006, Mr. Francis' primary focus has been on structuring and closing collateralized debt obligation transactions, hedge fund transactions and syndicated bank loan purchases. Earlier this year, he was named section head of the Bank Loan, Mezzanine and Private Equity and Distressed Debt Section in the Investment Law Group.

Prior to joining MassMutual, Mr. Francis was with the law firm of Helms, Mulliss and Wicker in Charlotte, N.C. and, before that, was with Bass, Berry & Sims in Nashville, Tenn.
Mr. Francis holds a J.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Law, and a B.A. in History from Duke University, where he graduated with honors.
