KUALA LUMPUR (Thomson Financial) - Malaysian shares opened higher on Monday
as palm oil stocks rebounded after falling sharply last week.
At 9:02 a.m. (0102 GMT), the Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (KLCI) was up 4.6
points or 0.4 percent at 1,276.08. The index opened up 0.2 percent at 1,274.13.
The FTSE Bursa Malaysia 30-large cap index gained 36.12 points or 0.4
percent to 8,280.57 and the FTSE Bursa Malaysia second board index rose 3.73
points or 0.1 percent to 5,914.74.
The plantation sector sub-index climbed 68.25 points or 0.9 percent to
7,638.31.
Advancers led decliners 67 to 34, with 67 stocks unchanged and 1,190
untraded.
Trading volume was 15.02 million shares, valued at 17.94 million ringgit.
The Malaysian ringgit was quoted at 3.1680/1685 against the U.S. dollar in
early trading.
