AURORA, ON, April 24, 2012 /PRNewswire/ - Magna
International, the world's most diversified automotive supplier,
announced today that its Magna Mirrors operating unit has been
selected as a 2012 Automotive News PACE Award winner for its
Infinity™ rearview mirror.
"On behalf of Magna Mirrors and our product development,
engineering and sales teams, we are honored to accept this 2012
PACE Award for our Infinity mirror, and we appreciate the
prestigious recognition our innovative product has received," said
Frank Seguin, president of Magna
Mirrors.
The Infinity mirror redefines the appearance of the inside
rearview mirror by replacing the traditional bezel around the
mirror's perimeter with a highly polished, precision-ground glass
edge. With the Infinity mirror, the driver sees and interacts only
with the glass mirror and no part of the assembly extends beyond
the mirror, resulting in a clean, futuristic design that automakers
see as a differentiating feature. Elimination of the bezel also
reduces forward obstruction by decreasing the overall mirror size
by 24 percent compared to a conventional mirror, while the buttons
commonly located in mirror bezels are replaced with touch-screen
style buttons on the glass surface.
Magna Seating was also a finalist in this year's PACE Awards
competition for its One-Touch Stow
n' Go® seat mechanism. (Stow n' Go is a registered trademark of
Chrysler Group LLC.) This latest-generation mechanism started in
2011 Chrysler and Dodge minivans and features a unique, one-touch
mechanical mechanism that -- all at once -- folds down the head
restraint, folds the seatback, releases the floor latch, tumbles
the seat forward, and translates the seat inboard to align with the
floor tub for easy stowing. The mechanism provides the ease of use
of a power folding seat for the mass and cost of a mechanical seat,
without compromise in functionality.
The Automotive News PACE Awards celebrate automotive
suppliers' innovations in products, manufacturing processes and
information technology. PACE Award winners were announced at the
18th annual Automotive News PACE Awards ceremony on
April 23, 2012, in Detroit, Michigan.
