Merrill Lynch & Co., down 4 cents at $52.93
The bank is in talks to line up capital from Chinese and Middle Eastern
investors in exchange for portions of the company, according to a report.
Macy's Inc., up 37 cents at $25.85
The retailer will close nine underperforming stores that collectively employ
around 900 staffers in six states, including Ohio.
Temple-Inland Inc., down $4.76 at $20.37
The packaging and building materials maker has completed the spinoff of its
financial services and real estate segments.
Transmeridian Exploration Inc., up 58 cents at $1.98
Trans Meridian International Inc. offered $3 per share, or $825 million, to
take the oil and natural gas company private.
Delta Air Lines Inc., up 5 cents at $14.65
Although investors have been concerned about high fuel costs, a slip in the
price of oil lifted airline stocks.
NASDAQ
Superior Offshore International Inc., down 32 cents at $4.96
The underwater construction and diving services company backed out of plans
to buy Ocean Flow International LLC for $15 million in stock.
Delta Petroleum Corp., up $2.99 at $18.50
Kirk Kerkorian's Tracinda Corp. is paying $684 million, or $19 per share,
for a 35 percent stake in the oil and gas company.
Salix Pharmaceuticals Ltd., down $1.35 at $7.66
Several drug developers received approval for their generic versions of the
company's key product, Colazal, which is used to treat ulcerative colitis.
