MARKET OVERVIEW Overseas markets are rebounding from yesterday's global sell-off as 14 of the
15 markets that we track are currently positive. The cumulative average return
on the group stands at a plus 0.587 percent. Yesterday's global sell- off had
BSE 30 in Bombay, India fall over 11 percent on fears that the Congress Party,
which won parliamentary elections last week, would try to slow down the pace of
privatization.
April Housing Starts are set to be released at 8:30 a.m. today. Forecasts are
for a small decrease of 1.3 percent or 1.98 million units versus April's 0.3
percent rise. After the market close Applied Materials will report second
quarter earnings numbers. Currently the Street is looking for a bottom line
figure of 19-cents per share.

all day after new Iraqi Governing Council leader Izzedine Salim was killed by a
car bomb. And the Indian stock exchange had a particularly bad Monday. The
Bombay exchange plunged as much as 842 points from Friday's close before
closing down 564 points (11.4%). Investors are concerned over the policies of
the incoming Congress government, which surprisingly won the general election. Despite saying the party is "pro-growth and pro-savings," Indians fear its
policies will stall an economy that grew 8.1% during the first quarter. The
outgoing Hindu Bharatiya Janata Party will boycott Wednesday's inauguration
ceremony, arguing that Congress leader Sonia Gandhi shouldn't lead the country
because she was born in Italy. And the communist parties in India decided they
won't join Gandhi's Congress either. India's Reserve Bank attempted to soothe
nerves by stating it would intervene to make sure the banking system and
foreign exchange markets remained stable. But that didn't seem to help, as
protests against the incoming government continued and stocks melted, wiping
out $40 billion from the market and taking the rupee and bonds down with it. When markets sink like this, Taipan's Red Zone VIP trading service takes
advantage. The group today recommended the two stocks that sold off most during
the meltdown - HDFC Bank and Satyam Computers Services. Both should bounce back
following the sell off.
