MARKET OVERVIEW Overseas markets are looking strong again today, as 13 of the 15 markets that we
track are currently positive. The cumulative average return on the group stands
at a plus 0.510 percent, led higher by the 1.34 percent advance in Hong Kong's
Hang Seng overnight. The Japanese Nikkei advanced 1.09 percent overnight, at
one time trading above 10,000 but finishing at 9,960.20.
Expectations are very high for three economic reports today. The first coming
out at 8:30 is the revised third-quarter GDP. It is expected to be revised up
towards 8 percent from the advance estimate of 7.2 percent. Consumer confidence
is released at 10:00 a.m. and is expected to climb to a 14-month high of 88.5 in
November. Existing home sales will also be released at 10:00 a.m. J.P. Morgan
is forecasting that existing home sales in October rose 0.9% to record-high 6.75
million units.
