MARKET OVERVIEW Overseas markets are displaying a greater degree of confidence than yesterday at
this time. Currently 13 of the 15 markets that we track are positive with a
cumulative average return on the group standing at a positive 0.387 percent.
Consumer prices in the Euro Zone rose by a surprisingly mild 0.1 percent in
October. Analysts had expected a 0.3 percent rise. The October reading also
marked a decline from September's 0.3 percent rise.
The two weekly reports on the well-being of the retail sector are due out before
the market open today. The BTM-UBS Chain Store Sales for the week of November
15 is bucking the prior week's 1.2 percent rise, while the Redbook Retail Sales
Index is going up against a 2.9 percent decline for that prior period. We need
a little good news out of the sector, as the S&P Retail Index has declined for
the past four consecutive sessions, for a four-session loss of 3.36 percent.
Also before the market open, the October Consumer Price Index is seen rising by
0.1 percent, moderating slightly from the 0.3 percent advance in September.
Pull out food and energy and the Core Index is seen rising by 0.1 percent,
matching last month's 0.1 percent rise. Expect key earning reports out of
Analog Devices, BJ's Wholesale Club, DJIA component Home Depot, Saks and
Staples.
