MARKET OVERVIEW Overseas marketsare looking reasonably firm as 11 of the 15 markets that we
track are currently positive. The cumulative average return on the group stands
at a positive 0.315 percent. It looks like we start this week on a similar note
to last week as the news on the potential for mergers and acquisitions may
bolster the market. We started out with the news that Citigroup has purchased
S. Korea's sixth largest bank, KorAm, for $2.7 billion. The Nikkei looks to be
employing its ascending 10-week moving average asa springboard for gains as the
U.S. dollar seems to have temporarily stemmed its decline versus the yen. Autos
and exporters have helped to pull the average higher by 148 points in overnight
trade.
At 9:15 a.m. today, Federal Reserve Chairman Greenspan makes the first of four
appearances scheduled for this week, speaking to credit union officials in
Washington. A little later, at 11:00 a.m., Treasury Secretary Snow speaks to
those same credit union officials in Washington. No doubt he will talk upthe
U.S.'s strong dollar policy. In other words, no major economic indicators will
be released today. Lowe's highlights today's earnings calendar as the earnings
season rapidly declines in velocity but not import. Although there are less
than 160 key reports out his week (H.J. Heinz's report due out tomorrow
unofficially signals the end of this earnings season) we will not be without
some excitement out of that venue. The retailing sector is heavily represented
this week.

http://www.investorsobserver.com/freemo DYNAMIC MARKET OPPORTUNITIES With consumer prices increasing 0.5%, inflation is the watchword on WallStreet. Volatile energy and food prices are to blame. Energy prices have leapt 4.7%
since December -- the largest jump since March 2003. But core inflation is still
relatively tame. William Poole, President of the St. Louis Federal Reserve,
expects strong economic and job growth in 2004, but with little inflation. The
Fed's refusal to raise interest rates so far seems to bear this out. Investors
didn't like the data too much though. That, coupled with Japan's heightened
terror alert, sent all three major U.S. markets stumbling to losses. But the big
correction will inevitably come later this year. Regardless, Ian Cooper,
financial analyst at the Red Zone likes web retailer Bluefly.com. Cooper says,
"Thanks to a 38% increase in new customers, the company just reported its first
quarterly net profit of $111,000 as sales soared 42% to $14 million, compared
with a $1.7 million loss and $9.9 million a year earlier. Gross margins also
jumped to 38.6%. We're confident the stock will meet our $6 near-term price
target (it traded as high as $4.95 on enormous volume last Thursday) and despite
a rash of profit-taking Friday, we remain long-term Bluefly holders." Bluefly.com is just one of thousands of small-cap, fast-growing companies in the
