The spirit of love took over Spirit Airlines flight #188 today. The Ultra-Low Cost Carrier (Nasdaq:SAVE) helped one of their passengers propose to his girlfriend in the middle of a flight to Las Vegas.

Spirit customer Ray Akbari surprised the other 170 passengers – not to mention his girlfriend, Freshta Atiqui, when he walked to the front of the aircraft, and with permission from the airline went on the planes public address system and asked his love for her hand in marriage.

"I want to make a special announcement to someone that I truly love," announced Akbari, capturing the other passengers' attention. "Atiqui means angel; and sure enough, she is my angel. Freshta will you marry me?"

Cheers and applause filled the cabin as Freshta took the ring from Ray and said "Yes!"

The cabins on Spirit's planes are known for their cozy seats. That was just fine with Ray and Freshta, as the couple kissed and spent the rest of the flight sitting very close to each other.

The entire proposal was captured on video and can be seen at this link: https://vimeo.com/125755984

"Mr. Akbari approached us with this request several weeks ago," said Paul Berry, Spirit's Director of Public Relations. "At Spirit we're all about having fun, but for this flight we're glad we could spread a little love, as well. Our flight attendants, airport staff and other Team Members enjoyed making this special event take place for this happy couple."

Upon the couple's arrival in Las Vegas, they received a congratulatory welcome from Spirit Team Members and the Las Vegas Convention and Visitor Authority.
