School leadership is more complex, challenging, and stressful than ever before. School leaders need collaboration, communication, and successes shared by other administrators who understand these pervasive challenges. That is why SDE's Administrator Summit was designed to pinpoint these specific needs.

A stellar team of educational thought leaders will speak to the needs of K–12 administrators in a variety of roles, from central office to building administrator. The cutting-edge program will address persistent challenges, offer new perspectives, and provide "next practices" to positively impact every administrator's career, school, district, and community.

"This year's Administrator Summit will host the nation's leading change-agents and innovative thought leaders who will address today's key issues and challenges," says Beth Stevenson from SDE, who planned the event. "You'll learn from the best and gain valuable networking opportunities to help you leave refreshed and refocused on being the best instructional leader every student deserves."

Stevenson lists these objectives as tantamount to the event: providing administrators the tools to address the new paradigms of technology integration and leadership in the digital world, delivering practical "turnaround" strategies to improve student achievement, and offering strong leadership tactics to help school leaders create change and address staff morale and school culture.

"Whether you're a veteran or new administrator, principal, associate or vice principal, or even a superintendent, this practical, content-rich, administrator-focused day is sure to motivate and inspire you to carry out your vision and maximize your impact on your school or district," Stevenson says confidently.

The "best practices" of school leadership in the Administrator Summit will incorporate more hands-on, interactive sessions for administrators, with immediate take-aways, and give administrators the tools they need to support the professional growth of their teachers. Data-driven assessments, high stakes testing, SES, students in poverty, ELL, special education, diversity, PLCs, and more will be covered by some of the best nationally-known presenters, and up-and-coming school leaders.

The conference features a keynote by Eric Scheninger, a thought leader on digital leadership with the International Center for Leadership in Education (ICLE). Prior to this position, Scheninger was an award-winning Principal at New Milford High School; under his leadership, the school became a globally-recognized model for innovative practices. Scheninger oversaw the successful implementation of several sustainable change initiatives that radically transformed the leading culture at the school while increasing achievement.

Scheninger is joined by award-winning administrators Principal Baruti Kafele, Jim Grant, Dr. Diane Heacox, and Dr. Sharon Faber, who will cover the shifting roles of vice principals, identifying next steps with differentiated instruction, effective leadership in the 21st century, and grit and motivation.

Two school principals known for their abilities as school turnaround agents, Principal Jimmy Casas of Iowa and Principal Shawn Hurt of Michigan, round out this group of veteran presenters to focus on cultivating cultures of excellence, practical turnaround strategies, and ways to raise the achievement bar while shaping school climate and culture.

"We've put together an amazing lineup of speakers than enables attendees to tap into a world-class, unique, and practical knowledge base that will help them raise their game and that of their staff," adds Stevenson.

The Administrator Summit is a pre-conference event offered by SDE to attendees of the National Conference on Singapore Math and the National Conference on Differentiated Instruction. The practical, content-rich, forum is designed for new, veteran, and aspiring administrators, superintendents, and principals. It combines substance and inspiration in an inspiring and interactive format.  Through 22 cutting sessions, the Summit offers a variety of real-world solutions that will take administrators to the next level in their journey of impact, excellence, and self-development.
