Kyocera and Authentidate Complete Interoperability Testing on Integrated Mobile Telehealth Solution
February 23 2015 - 9:00AM
Kyocera Communications Inc., North America's leading supplier of
ruggedized mobile devices, and Authentidate Holding Corp.
(Nasdaq:ADAT), a provider of secure web-based software applications
and telehealth products and services for healthcare organizations,
today announced that they have completed interoperability testing
on an integrated mobile healthcare solution for remote patient
monitoring.
The goal of the interoperability testing is to combine Kyocera's
market-leading expertise in hardware development, manufacturing and
product fulfillment with Authentidate's software and command of
healthcare business process workflow. Implementing
Authentidate's InscrybeMD remote patient monitoring application on
the Kyocera Brigadier, a ruggedized, wireless mobile device,
potentially creates a powerful, cost-effective tool for healthcare
providers to set up tailored monitoring sessions of patient health
with fewer in-person doctor or emergency-room
visits. Providers could use the remote patient monitoring
solution to manage patients who have chronic diseases such as
Diabetes, Hypertension, Congestive Heart Failure (CHF), Chronic
Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), and a number of behavioral
health conditions. It also could be used to manage wellness
programs and other programs such as weight management and tobacco
cessation.
Authentidate software and services are already used by numerous
commercial and government healthcare providers. Kyocera is the
nation's leading manufacturer of rugged mobile devices. The
ruggedized and waterproof Kyocera Brigadier smartphone, which is
certified to Military Standard 810G and IP68, provides a durable
and dependable wireless device to facilitate the secure mobile
delivery of the patient data.
"Completing this interoperability testing creates the potential
for an integrated solution that would allow healthcare
organizations to leverage not only Authentidate's deep
software-design and services experience and extensive relationships
within the healthcare market, but also Kyocera's proven expertise
in durable hardware engineering, longstanding relationships with
wireless service providers and nationwide infrastructure for
distribution, service and support," said Hiroshi Funatogawa,
president of Kyocera Communications.
"We believe that together, Authentidate and Kyocera could
provide a mobility solution that combines best-in-class software
and hardware to meet the healthcare industry's unique requirements
while enabling the proven, practical benefits for patients and
providers that telehealth offers," said Ian C. Bonnet, Chief
Executive Officer at Authentidate.
