Rally Fills Void for a Smarter Feature Phone
Kyocera Communications Inc. today unveiled the new Kyocera
Rally, a smarter feature phone designed for people seeking
affordable functionality. With its easy-to-use interface, reliable
technology and enhanced communication features, Kyocera Rally fills
an underserved need for T-Mobile customers who stick to the basics,
like talking, texting and snapping pictures. It will be available
on T-Mobile’s Data Strong™ network, covering more than 57 million
customers, for $29.99 (plus tax).
Rally features a sleek, ergonomic design with a traditional
keypad and large separated keys to make calling, texting and
navigating apps an easy task. It also utilizes voice-recognition
technology and accessibility features, including voice
guide/text-to-speech capability that allows readout functionality
for menus, text messaging, notifications, and much more. A 3.5mm
headset jack enables hands-free operation, while messaging via SMS
and MMS is as convenient as ever with T9 predictive text entry.
And, with a 1.8” QQVGA color display that also supports
high-contrast black and white menus for easy legibility, Rally
provides an enhanced viewing experience in this product tier.
“In a world dominated by smartphones, Kyocera Rally offers
unique value as ‘the smarter feature phone.’ It is designed
specifically for people who don’t want the bells and whistles of a
smartphone. And according to our research, there are 73 million of
them out there,” said Eric Anderson, senior vice president and
general manager of global sales and marketing at Kyocera
Communications. “We expect Rally to do very well within this market
segment as it provides consumers with a solid, reliable and
affordable feature phone.”
With a variety of convenient features, Rally makes communicating
simple. It is equipped with a reliable ACCESS NetFront 4.1 browser,
Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR compatibility that supports HSP, HFP and OPP
Bluetooth profiles, location-based services with AGPS, and a
variety of essential tools including address book, calendar,
calculator, alarm clock, stopwatch, and more. Rally also supports
TTY/TTD and has an HAC rating of M3/T3 fixed for the hearing
impaired and hearing aid compatibility.
The Rally is built with a Brew™ MP operating system and features
a microSD™ memory card slot to offer users up to 32GB more memory.
Rally also contains a 760mAh Lithium ion (Li-ion) battery, which
provides up to 12 days of standby time, suitable for long days and
on-the-go tasks. It is also equipped with ICE (In Case of
Emergency) functions.
