Kurdish oil minister Ashti Hawrami was the "Mr. A" who received
two emails from J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. (JPM) banker Ian Hannam
in 2008, Reuters reported Friday, citing people familiar with the
matter.
On Tuesday, the Financial Services Authority said it levied a
GBP450,000 fine against Hannam for allegedly disclosing inside
information about Heritage Oil PLC (HOIL.LN, HTGLY), which had
hired J.P. Morgan to seek a potential merger partner. Hannam said
he would leave the firm and would pursue an appeal.
The FSA said Hannam emailed "Mr. A," who was "a representative
of Organisation C," in September and October 2008.
Reuters said spokesmen for Hannam, J.P. Morgan, the FSA and
Hawrami declined to comment.
