NEW YORK, Nov. 28, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Kunming,
China was under the spotlight on
Thanksgiving, November 26, 2015 in the United States as Macy's Thanksgiving Parade presented for the first time,
the spectacular scenery of Kunming and the richness of Chinese
ethnic culture.
Kunming, known as "the City of Eternal Spring" for its pleasant
climate and flowers that bloom all year, was portrayed vividly on a
float at the 89th Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in
New York City before 3.5 million
people during the parade and over 50 million on television.
The float, 'Stone Forest from Kunming: China-A Natural Wonder in
the World,' was presented by the Sino-American Friendship
Association (SAFA) in conjunction with Macy's and supported by the
Kunming Tourism Development Committee and the Kunming Stone Forest
Scenic Area. It was a delicate replica of Kunming's UNESCO heritage
site.
The marvelous Stone Forest was showcased in the center with
Chinese decorations as the float welcomed Macy's delighted parade
goers along the route for its blend of Eastern and Western cultures
and urged people around the world to visit Kunming.
Atop the float was a troupe of performers, including flag
dancers waving the flags of famous tourist sites in Kunming, as
well as a dance group of 70 Chinese and American performers dressed
in Chinese traditional costumes. Chinese costumed nationals
representing Kunming, joined millions, including those watching via
television and around the world, in cheering the float on.

The Kunming float also was lauded by Governor of New York State Andrew M. Cuomo; Mayor of New
York City Bill de Blasio; US Senator Kirsten Gillibrand and Congressman Joseph Crowley who all gave their best wishes
for a wonderful Thanksgiving and a
remarkable success in future endeavors for Kunming and China-US
relations.
