The United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation (USGIF) today
announced that Keith J. Masback has been named president of USGIF.
Masback succeeds K. Stuart Shea, who was selected by the board of
directors to serve as chief executive officer and continue in his role
as the chairman of the board.
“The growth and success of USGIF over the past
four years has been remarkable and become the defining catalyst that has
brought government, industry, academia and professional organizations
together to promote the geospatial intelligence tradecraft,”
said Shea. “With that success, the time has
clearly come to bring on board a full-time president to help enable
USGIF to lead the GEOINT community into the future. This step is a very
important and exciting one for USGIF, and we are elated Keith is taking
the reins to continue to promulgate the tradecraft and guide the
community.”
With more than 20 years in military and government service, Masback
comes from the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) where he
was most recently director of the Source Operations Group. He has also
served NGA as the deputy director of the Office of Strategic
Transformation, director of the Frontiers Office and as the deputy
director of the director’s Initiatives Group.
Masback began his professional career in the U.S. Army as an infantry
officer in the Berlin Brigade, later transitioning to military
intelligence, serving at XVIII Airborne Corps and on the Army Staff. As
a senior civilian, he led the Army Intelligence Master Plan Office
planning Army intelligence transformation. He then served as the Army’s
first director of intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance
integration, leading the melding of ISR concepts and systems into Army,
joint, and national long-range planning and programming.
“I’m passionate
about the promise of GEOINT, and I’m humbled
by the leadership opportunity the USGIF board of directors has offered,”
Masback said. “Under the superb direction of
Stu Shea and others, in just under five years USGIF developed into an
organization that significantly contributes to our national security. I
am eager to build upon this outstanding legacy across government,
industry, academia and related professional organizations.”
USGIF is a not-for-profit education corporation dedicated to promoting
the geospatial intelligence tradecraft and developing a stronger
community of interest between government, industry, academia,
professional organizations and individuals whose mission focus is the
development and application of geospatial intelligence to address
national security objectives. To learn more, please visit www.USGIF.org.
