LONDON (Thomson Financial) - Jersey Electricity Co. Ltd. reported a 40
percent jump in its first-half pretax profit due to strong growth across all its
businesses and a higher level of electricity unit sales in the last six months.
The company posted a pretax profit of 6.8 million pounds for the six months
to March 31, 2008, from 4.9 million pounds reported in the year-ago period.
Turnover rose 13 percent to 45.4 million pounds from 40.0 million pounds
earlier.
Jersey Electricity reported a 7 percent increase in electricity sales to
359.77 MWh compared to 335.99 MWh reported a year ago.
It has declared an interim net dividend of 73 pence a share on its ordinary
and 'A' shares, up from 49 pence previously.
