Jardine Lloyd Thompson Announces Senior Management
Appointments
30(th) January 2015 London: Jardine Lloyd Thompson Group plc
("JLT") one of the world's leading providers of insurance,
reinsurance and employee benefits related advice, brokerage and
associated services, is today announcing several senior management
appointments within its UK Employee Benefits business and JLT Asia.
These appointments are subject to obtaining the appropriate
regulatory approvals, where required.
Mark Wood is retiring from his role as the CEO of JLT's UK
Employee Benefits business and will be leaving the Group at the end
of May 2015.
Duncan Howorth is returning to the UK after two successful years
as CEO of JLT Asia to take up the position of CEO of JLT's UK
Employee Benefits business, effective from 1(st) June 2015. Duncan
will continue in his role as the International Chairman of Employee
Benefits.
Dominic Samengo-Turner is appointed CEO of JLT Asia, with effect
from 1(st) May 2015. Dominic has previously spent over 20 years at
Willis, most recently as Co-Chief Executive of Global Specialities
and a Director of Willis Limited.
Ian Robinson, currently the COO of JLT Asia, is returning to the
UK to take up the position of COO of Thistle Insurance Services
Limited, with effect from 1(st) July 2015.
Warren Downey, currently CEO of JLT Specialty's Regional Risk
Practice and Trading Division, is appointed Deputy CEO and COO of
JLT Asia, with effect from 1(st) May 2015 and 1(st) July 2015
respectively.
Commenting on these appointments, Dominic Burke, JLT Group CEO
said:
"I would like to thank Mark on behalf of the Group for the key
role he has played in the very strong progress of our UK Employee
Benefits business, initially as Non-executive Chairman and more
recently as CEO. We wish him well for the future.
Duncan Howorth has done an outstanding job as CEO of JLT Asia
over the last two and a half years in strengthening our market
position across the region and in growing our Employee Benefits
life assurance and healthcare businesses to represent nearly half
of our revenues in Asia. His return to the UK coincides with a
period of significant change and opportunity in the UK employee
benefits industry and I am pleased that he is re-assuming
leadership for what remains the second largest business in the
Group and one that he has played a critical role in building. His
move will also enable him to focus more time on his important role
as International Chairman of Employee Benefits.
Dominic Samengo-Turner is widely recognised across the industry
for his deep specialty capabilities as well as his expertise and
knowledge of placements, carrier relationships and the global
insurance markets. I am delighted that we have been able to attract
someone of his reputation and calibre to lead our Asian business
and further develop our specialty capabilities, working alongside
Tony Langridge and David Lum, Executive Chairman and Deputy
Chairman respectively of JLT Asia.
Ian Robinson has been instrumental in driving an ambitious
operational change agenda across Asia, including establishing our
new Malaysian Shared Service Centre and improving the processes and
efficiency of our operational platform. I am delighted that he has
accepted the opportunity to return to the UK as COO of Thistle,
whose system and operational needs are an excellent fit with his
skills and experience.
During his 23 years at JLT, Warren Downey has fulfilled a number
of senior roles within JLT Specialty, our largest business,
including CEO of Sweden, Chief Operating Officer, Head of Strategy
and CEO of the Regional Risk Practice. This varied experience and
range of skills makes him ideally placed to work alongside Dominic
Samengo-Turner as part of an enlarged management structure and
provide the strategic and operational support necessary to lead our
Asian business in its next phase of growth."
These changes mark another important step in JLT's growth and
development and indicate both the depth of talent within the
organisation and our continued ability to attract some of the best
people in the industry to join us and help drive our continued
growth and momentum."
