The Japanese yen staged a strong rally across the board in early Asian deals on Thursday.
The yen jumped to a 6-day high of 149.03 against the pound and 66.18 against the New Zealand dollar by 8:25 pm ET, compared to Wednesday's North American session closing values of 149.63 and 66.69, respectively. Currently, the yen is trading at 149.15 against the sterling and 66.24 versus the kiwi.
The Japanese currency climbed to a 2-day high of 82.61 against the Australian dollar and 84.41 versus the Canadian dollar by this time. The yen that closed Wednesday's New York trading at 83.05 against the aussie and 84.72 versus the loonie is currently quoted at 82.72 and 84.48, respectively.
The yen also drifted higher to 89.25 against the US dollar, 88.18 versus the Swiss franc and 133.21 against the euro around 8:25 pm ET, compared to yesterday's closing values of 89.34, 88.48 and 133.67, respectively.
