GlobalOptions Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: GLOI), a leading provider of domestic
and international risk management services, today announced that James
Lee Witt will be the keynote speaker at the 10th annual New Jersey
Emergency Preparedness Association (NJEPA) Conference on May 8, 2008 at
the Tropicana Resort and Casino showroom in Atlantic City. He will speak
to an audience consisting of first responders from law enforcement,
fire, emergency medical services, emergency management, and associated
disciplines about his evaluation of how prepared the Mid-Atlantic States
are for the next major crisis.
The key message will be that mitigation, preparedness, response and
recovery efforts require a dynamic partnership of government and
community to be successful. Corporations and government emergency
managers, at all levels, are becoming more reliant on one another to
effectively meet the challenges in successful disaster preparation.
“This conference will be a forum to convey an
important message not only to the states in the Mid-Atlantic, but also
to the rest of the country,” said James Lee
Witt, Chief Executive Officer, James Lee Witt Associates, which is a
part of GlobalOptions Group. “As our
vulnerability to disasters increases, the need for a more common sense
approach to crisis management becomes more urgent.”
“It is gratifying to have a speaker of
Mr. Witt’s caliber at our 10th anniversary
conference,” said Michael Caffrey, Vice
President, NJEPA. “His words of wisdom and
advice add a new dimension to our continuing effort to train and prepare
the region’s emergency responders for the
threats facing us today.”
Conference week opened on Monday, May 5, with three days of
pre-conference specialized training covering the areas of
Hospital/Medical, Preparedness, Response, and Weather. Vendor booth
displays will also be open at the Tropicana ballroom both Wednesday and
Thursday. On-line registration is now open through the NJEPA’s
web page at www.njepa.org/.
“We are looking forward to participating in
this important conference,” Harvey Schiller,
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of GlobalOptions Group. “The
Mid-Atlantic region is home to some of our largest cities and most
populated areas, and hopefully those who attend can learn new ways to
work together in preparing for the next crisis.”
