JLT Specialty USA, a U.S. subsidiary of Jardine Lloyd Thompson Group plc. (LSE:JLT), one of the world’s leading specialty-focused providers of insurance, reinsurance and employee benefits related advice, brokerage and associated services, is pleased to announce the appointments of two new team members to its Mergers & Acquisitions Group.

This group is a dedicated team of experts in the fields of fund manager liability, transactional risk solutions, risk and insurance due diligence and portfolio risk management.

The individuals appointed to this team include the following:

• Howard Rimerman, Senior Vice President – New York
• Steven Smith, Vice President – Los Angeles

The appointments are part of JLT’s continued investment in its Mergers & Acquisitions Group to build the strongest team in the U.S.

Howard Rimerman is based in New York and brings to JLT Specialty USA more than thirty years of experience as a commercial banker, investment banker and private equity investor. In his role, Rimerman will bring real world deal experience to assist JLT’s corporate and private equity clients solve complex risk issues. Prior to JLT, Rimerman worked in commercial banking, investment banking and private equity and has several billion dollars of transactional experience. Starting his career in commercial banking at Bank of America, he later transitioned into investment banking at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette and Credit Suisse which eventually led him into the private equity sector where he spent time at Equinox Group in Singapore, Trio Investors and Quilvest Private Equity in NYC. Rimerman holds a BA in Economics from UCLA and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Steven Smith is based in Los Angeles where he will be an essential part of the Mergers & Acquisitions Group West coast strategy. He brings to JLT Specialty USA more than eight years of experience in the insurance brokerage industry, serving a broad network of private equity clients. Smith joins JLT from Marsh & McLennan where he served as Vice President of their Private Equity and M&A services.
