PARIS (Thomson Financial) - Ipsen will continue examining any acquisition
opportunity to "accelerate its growth" but also aims to develop its geographical
and "therapeutic" presence, CEO Jean-Luc Belingard told a telephone conference
after the pharmaceutical company's first-half results.
Chief financial officer Claire Girault said that if the chance arises, Ipsen
could launch "the type of acquisition already realised with Tercica," the
US-based development partner in which it owns a 25 pct stake.
Ipsen announced a 4.2 pct rise in first-half operating profit today to 112.9
mln eur as sales grew 7.6 pct to 463.2 mln. Belingard said the results were "in
line with its expectations."
